Sweet Onion Patty
This simple twist on an old Southern classic is sure to please. A vegetarian patty is perfect for any summer picnic or cookout and will be sure to impress all your guests. Top with our Concord Grape & SweetOnion Jam for an extra dimension of flavor.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup of flour
- 1 Tbsp of sugar
- 1 Tbsp of cornmeal
- 2 tsp of baking powder
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of Montreal steak seasoning
- 2½ cups of chopped sweet onions
- ¾ cup of milk
- peanut oil for frying
- sour cream for dipping
Instructions
- Mix together dry ingredients.
- Add milk and stir until batter thickens.
- Add onions and mix thoroughly.
- Heat ½ inch oil in skillet over medium-high heat.
- Drop batter by tablespoons in hot oil and flatten slightly. Brown on both sides until nice and crisp.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Serve with sour cream for dipping.
