Ingredients

Beef Ingredients:

  • 1 (2-lb.) boneless beef chuck roast
  • 7 medium garlic cloves, halved lengthwise
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. black pepper
  • ¾ cup beef broth
  • 1 medium-size sweet onion, sliced
  • 8 thyme sprigs
  • 2 fresh or dried bay leaf
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 2 medium-size tomatoes, sliced crosswise 1/4-in. thick
  • 1 ½ cups shaved iceberg lettuce

Sandwich Spread Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp. dill relish
Instructions
