Chef Tune's Sweet Onion Smash Burgers
What's better than a burger? A smash burger! Made with simple ingredients, and lots of sweet onions, these mouthwatering smash burgers will definitely be a hit at your next gathering and are a fan favorite for cookouts and tailgates.

- 1 lb 70/30 ground beef, portioned in 4 oz balls
- 1 sweet onion, sliced thin
- 1 cup sliced pickles
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 potato buns
- salt and pepper, to taste
- Preheat griddle to 400°F (200°C).
- Season meat with salt and pepper.
- Place meat on griddle, smash with a spatula, and then top each burger with sliced onions.
- After 3 minutes, flip burgers and top with American cheese.
- Grill buns, inside down, while cheese is melting. Once buns are toasted, place pickle on bottom bun and then top with burger patty and top bun.
